Severe storm potential continues for southern Ontario on Wednesday, following 2026’s first tornado warning
Overnight thunderstorms triggered Canada’s first tornado warning and red alert of the year in the Windsor area. The system is expected to bring warm frontal showers as it moves into eastern Ontario.

By Wednesday afternoon and evening, southwestern Ontario could see another round of severe thunderstorms, with a risk of heavy downpours and large hail. A low to slight chance of a rotating storm also exists.

Severe thunderstorms forecast Wednesday afternoon, starting near Windsor and Sarnia by 1-2 p.m. and reaching Hamilton and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) after 4 p.m.

Following Tuesday’s overnight storms, another round of severe thunderstorms is forecast Wednesday afternoon, driven by a cold front moving through southern Ontario.
Thunderstorms are expected to develop near Windsor and Sarnia around 2 p.m., moving into London, Hamilton, and Niagara after 4 p.m.
The environment could produce severe storms with heavy downpours and a hail risk. There is a low to slight chance of a rotating storm near Windsor.
Another system will bring rain with embedded thunderstorms to Windsor, Sarnia, and London early in the morning on Thursday, moving into GTA and Cottage Country by the afternoon.
