Canada vowed to keep supporting Ukraine amid Moscow’s warnings. The defense minister hinted at faster drone production but left key operational details undisclosed.
Canada continues to provide support to Ukraine despite Russian threats – this position was stated by Canada’s Defence Minister David McGuinty, commenting on a statement by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which condemned the recent agreements to manufacture drones on Canadian soil for the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
According to the defence chief, the country firmly supports Ukraine and will continue to do so together with NATO allies, strengthening the Alliance and standing united against threats.
“We strongly support our Ukrainian colleagues… And we will continue to do so together with our NATO allies, strengthening the Alliance and uniting… We expected that the Russians would criticize this, because they do not like NATO’s camaraderie in helping a country that needs it.”

He stressed that he is not concerned by threats to deliver an “adequate response.”
McGuinty assured that Russia’s aggressive statement will have no impact on the agreement reached last month to produce drones on Canadian soil for the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Support for Ukraine and Canada’s next steps
At the end of May, it was announced the launch of a new project to manufacture Ukrainian unmanned systems on Canadian soil.
The cooperation will continue, and Canadian forces will continue to closely monitor developments and support their Ukrainian colleagues.
