A major security operation is getting underway this morning for the Canadian Prime Minister’s visit to Dublin.
Mark Carney will meet business leaders and the Taoiseach Micheál Martin in the city today before going to Mayo tomorrow.
Gardaí say there’ll be temporary road closures and security escorts during his visit to the capital, particularly in the city centre.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is due to land in Dublin shortly, for an official two-day visit to Ireland.
He’ll attend a number of engagements in the capital today, before visiting County Mayo tomorrow.
The Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is expected to arrive at Dublin Airport between 9 and 10 o’clock this morning.
After meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron yesterday, the Canadian Prime Minister flies from Paris to Dublin this morning.
His visit will begin at Government Buildings, where he will meet the Taoiseach, he will then deliver a speech at Trinity College Dublin.
This evening, a reception in his honour will be held at Dublin Castle.
Tomorrow, Mr. Carney will travel to County Mayo, where his grandparents were born.
They emigrated from Mayo to Quebec in 1925.
