The Montreal Alouettes will be without weak-side linebacker Tyrice Beverette when they visit the Edmonton Elks on Saturday. The team issued its official depth chart on Friday morning.
The 31-year-old is dealing with a neck injury and has been moved to the one-game injured list. He was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday and a non-participant on Tuesday and Thursday.
Beverette made six defensive tackles and one sack during the team’s first two regular-season games. He was named All-CFL in each of his last two seasons, and received the East Division’s nomination for Most Outstanding Defensive Player in 2024.

Over 96 career regular-season CFL games, Beverette has made 352 defensive tackles, 84 special teams tackles, 21 sacks, nine forced fumbles, seven interceptions, and two touchdowns.
Geoffrey Cantin-Arku will start in Beverette’s place, shifting over from middle linebacker. Micah Awe, who was a full-time starter with the B.C. Lions in 2025, will start for Cantin-Arku at middle linebacker.
Kaseem Ferdinand will start at slotback in place of Jerreth Sterns, who has been placed on the six-game injured list (hand). The five-foot-ten, 180-pound native of Ottawa recently rejoined the Alouettes after dressing for four regular-season games in 2025. He was named a second-team U Sports All-Canadian at Carleton University in 2024.
Najee Murray has returned from the one-game injured list to start at strong-side linebacker. The 33-year-old has made 244 defensive tackles, six special teams tackles, nine interceptions, three sacks, and two forced fumbles over 67 career regular-season games, all with the Alouettes.
Daniel Wise will start at defensive tackle alongside Mustafa Johnson, replacing Decarius Hawthorne. The six-foot-three, 279-pound defender played 17 regular-season games with the Washington Commanders in 2021 and 2022, recording 11 tackles. He was also a member of the Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Cardinals, and Kansas City Chiefs. Hawthorne has been moved to the practice roster.
Terique Owens and Kori Roberson Jr. have been promoted from the practice roster into depth roles. Owens, a receiver, is the son of Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Terrell Owens. Roberson Jr., who dressed for seven regular-season games last year, will be a backup behind Wise.
Mario Alford will handle Montreal’s return duties following the release of Phillip Brooks. The 34-year-old attended training camp with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats but was cut after the team’s first preseason game to make room for Isaiah Wooden Sr. Alford previously played for the Alouettes before a long stint with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Special Teams Player in 2022.
Riley MacLeod, a Canadian linebacker out of Western University, has been moved to the practice roster. He made one special teams tackle in last week’s won over the Toronto Argonauts.
The Montreal Alouettes (2-0) will visit the Edmonton Elks (1-0) at Commonwealth Stadium on Saturday, June 20 with kickoff scheduled for 4:00 p.m. EDT. The Alouettes are coming off an impressive win over the Toronto Argonauts, while the Elks spent Week 2 on bye.
The weather forecast in Edmonton calls for a high of 18 degrees and a 60 percent chance of showers. The game will be broadcast on TSN and RDS in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune in on TSN 690 (English) or 99.5 Montreal (French) in Montreal or 880 CHED in Edmonton.
