Red Bulls II (29 points) improved to 8-4-3, while Toronto FC II (22) dropped to 6-6-3.
“We were able to reward ourselves this time in the right moments, and you see when you score, especially when you score first, the belief comes a little bit back, in the bones and the body,” Red Bulls II head coach Dominik Wohlert said.
The hosts opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Mijahir Jimenez laid it off to Dennis Gjengaar, who deposited it back to the striker for his third goal of the season.
New York started the second half strong with a goal when defender Connor Faello delivered the ball to Jimenez, who found Benny Rodriguez as the winger struck a ball from distance for a 2-0 lead.
In the 80th minute, Christian Gallagher found fellow substitute forward Sean Baitinger, who delivered a through ball to Rodriguez as he evaded the goalkeeper for a brace.
Three minutes later, Josh Munson scored with a header after Baitinger sent the ball to Faello, who passed it toward the goal, where the defender put added the fourth of the match.
To seal the victory, Rodriguez passed to Dennis Nelich, who found Baitinger and scored.
