German FIFA fan FreddyLA7 has gone viral for documenting his World Cup road trip across the U.S. and Canada, earning millions of views with his enthusiastic travel and food reviews.
Traveling between at least seven World Cup matches, Freddy visited multiple states and even received invitations to tour NASA, meet Houston’s mayor, and visit the Houston Police Department.
His trip to Toronto was nearly derailed by a cancelled flight from Dallas, but he rerouted through Buffalo and made it to Germany’s match against Côte d’Ivoire just in time.
Freddy’s arrival caught the attention of local fans and the City of Toronto, which welcomed him online as he continued his World Cup journey across North America.
A German FIFA fan has gained online stardom after he began documenting his travels through the United States ahead of the World Cup – now, he just landed in Toronto.
X user FreddyLA7, or Freddy for short, arrived in the U.S. just before the World Cup kick off, first touching down in on the southside of the country in Atlanta.
The World Cup trip starts tomorrow 🤩
Baggage all packed for 6 weeks in the USA and Canada. Travelling with hand luggage only, and 90% of it is jerseys.

Prior to landing in Toronto, Freddy took a roadtrip through the country, as he explored popular North American stores and food chains. The posts of his funny and enthusiastic reactions garnered millions of views, each.
Each stop was in between the seven different FIFA games Freddy had tickets for, the sole reason for his U.S. and Canada trip.
His multi-state trip had him driving through Georgia, Florida, Texas, Tennessee and Mississippi to name a few. His new found stardom with each viral post led him to get opportunities such as visiting the Houston Police Department, meeting the mayor of Houston, and getting a tour of NASA.

Toronto almost didn’t happen
After the many matches, visiting different tourist spots, and classic U.S. franchises, Freddy was set to visit Canada.
Despite his first Canadian-based FIFA game having taken place on Saturday, with Germany facing off against Côte d’Ivoire, Freddy’s flight from Dallas to Toronto was cancelled. When he was rebooked, the next flight out made it so Freddy would have to miss his Toronto game.
Our connecting flight from Dallas to Canada has been canceled due to weather. They rebooked us on a flight tomorrow evening.

Luckily, Freddy said he was able to be booked on a flight to Buffalo, where he was able to cross the border into Canada just in time to catch the game a few hours into the country.

Toronto rolls out the welcome mat
Freddy’s arrival quickly caught attention online.
After posting about finally making it into the city, he received a welcome message from the City of Toronto’s official social media account.

The interaction added another chapter to what has become one of the more wholesome World Cup stories circulating online.
For many fans, Freddy’s posts have captured a side of the tournament that extends beyond the matches themselves: the friendships, travel mishaps, cultural discoveries and spontaneous moments that make a World Cup unlike any other sporting event.
The road trip continues
Now, as the superfan continues to support his favourite team across borders, Freddy is set to travel to his next game back in the U.S., at Miami Stadium, where Colombia will face Portugal on June 27.
Freddy is expected to return to Canada to watch the Round of 16 Knockout Match at BC Place in Vancouver, on July 7
If his journey so far is any indication, more adventures, and viral moments, are likely on the horizon.
