It means that we have a lot of people watching what we’re doing, but it also means that there are no big blocks that could potentially hurt the stock.”

With the company’s current expansion plans, the latest news has been on the Serpentinization Iron-Magnetite Project in Saskatchewan, Canada.

The project itself targets both iron and magnetite, with the potential for additional upside from naturally occurring hydrogen production by stimulating iron-rich magnetite formations through serpentinisation.

In May 2026, Makenita announced that it had doubled the size of its land package in Saskatchewan from 23,517 to 51,304 contiguous acres.

More recently, Makenita announced yet another expansion, doubling its land package again to a district-sized 116,149 acres.

The Serpentinization Project directly borders Max Power Mining (CSE:MAXX), in which Eric Sprott has recently announced a C$25 million ($25.2 million) strategic investment. Gigliotti notes that this highlights the growing interest in the hydrogen space in this region.

Max Power initially confirmed Canada’s first natural hydrogen discovery in Saskatchewan in January this year, following successful drilling and test work.

Diversification in action: Building exposure across Canada

As part of this expansion plan, Makenita has recently acquired the Sisson West Tungsten Project in New Brunswick, a project of around 9,845 contiguous acres in an area prospective for tungsten.

This project directly borders Northcliff Resources’ (TSX:NCF) Sisson Tungsten-Molybdenum Project, which has seen significant interest from the US Department of Defense (DoD) and the Canadian Government.

In November 2025, it was announced that the Sisson Tungsten Mine was referred to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s Major Projects Office, which provides financial and regulatory assistance for key Canadian projects.

Atlantic Canada is emerging as a top mining jurisdiction, with the government in New Brunswick specifically aiming to lead the country in global metal supply chains, as previously reported.

Gigliotti notes that the provincial government is incredibly supportive of the mining industry and has signalled that the province is open for business.

Makenita has just started with some initial work on Sisson West, with an airborne survey completed and the data currently pending.

“We’ll likely do some groundwork here in the summer and then prepare for a drill program later,” Gigliotti says.

There’s a growing focus on tungsten at present. As a critical mineral with important military applications, it is attracting increased attention as global shortages emerge, demand rises, and China’s 2025 export restrictions impact the market.

Moving westward into Québec, Makenita has the NTX Rare Earth Project, covering around 9,000 acres in the northeast of the province, near the border with Labrador.

Gigliotti notes that the company has plans to get up to the project in July this year, coordinating with another regional company on geologist work and costs.

Strategic path forward: Expansion, spin-outs, and shareholder focus

While Makenita focuses on expansion and acquisitions, Gigliotti says that it is keeping its share count low as it plans out the next steps for development.

“There’s going to be a lot of news coming out over the summer, which is what the market wants to see,” Gigliotti says.

“Our growing marketing plans go hand-in-hand with the growth in our news cycle.”

As Gigliotti notes, the company is currently in this “hypergrowth acquisition mode”, rather than focusing on the development of its projects. That said, Makenita does plan to spend a bit of time on each project over the coming months to see what emerges.

“If something big comes up, then we’ll raise some extra money to go drill.

“I’m a big believer that more news is better than less news, and more activity is better than less.”

Throughout this expansion phase, Makenita is ensuring that it stays focused on its strategy, which can sometimes be difficult with multiple projects.

Gigliotti explains that the company is open to further spin-outs if and when they make sense and can benefit shareholders.

As Makenita accelerates its acquisition-driven growth strategy, it is positioning itself across multiple Canadian jurisdictions. The company now has exposure to a range of critical minerals, including iron, magnetite, hydrogen, tungsten, and rare earths.

With a tightly held share structure and a deliberate focus on momentum through newsflow, Gigliotti is signalling that the months ahead will be defined by activity, expansion, and market engagement.

Makenita’s acquisition-focused strategy underscores a clear ambition: to build a diverse portfolio of critical mineral projects while maintaining flexibility to spin-out or advance assets as opportunities arise.

Write to Amy Rotman at Mining.com.au

Images: Mining.com.au and Makenita Resources

Add to Watch List:MakenitaSprottCritical MineralsRare Earth ElementsTungsten

This article is a sponsored feature from Mining.com.au partner Makenita Resources.
