ARLINGTON, Va.\u00a0– Canada\u2019s hotel industry posted its highest year-over-year gains in average daily rate (ADR) and revenue per available room (RevPAR) since 2024, according to May 2026 data from\u00a0CoStar<\/a>, a leading global provider of commercial real estate information, analytics, and online property marketplaces.<\/p>\n

May 2026 (percentage change from 2025):<\/p>\n

Occupancy: 70.7% (+0.9%)
\nAverage daily rate (ADR): CAD233.40 (+9.5%)
\nRevenue per available room (RevPAR): CAD165.02 (+10.5%)\u00a0<\/p>\n

Canada\u2019s ADR growth was the highest for any month since November 2024, while the RevPAR increase was the country\u2019s highest since December 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Among the provinces and territories, Quebec registered the largest increases in each of the three key performance metrics: occupancy (+5.9% to 72.1), ADR (+20.0% to CAD276.62) and RevPAR (+27.1% to CAD199.49).\u00a0<\/p>\n

Among the major markets, Montreal\u00a0reported the largest gains: occupancy (+8.1% to 78.0%), ADR (+26.7% to CAD313.08) and RevPAR (+36.9% to CAD244.09).\u00a0<\/p>\n

The aforementioned province and metro market were both impacted by the Canadian Grand Prix, which shifted from June to May this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

World Cup host markets, Toronto and Vancouver, have already seen a rate-driven impact in June. On 12 June, Toronto saw a 47.6% lift in ADR and a 36.2% increase in RevPAR. On 13 June, Vancouver reported a 54.0% jump in ADR and a 30.4% gain in RevPAR.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As of 15 June, bookings for Vancouver\u2019s next match on 24 June were at 64% (-8.6% year over year), with Downtown Vancouver\u2019s occupancy on the books at 66.3% (-14.3% year over year).\u00a0<\/p>\n
