The listing, based in Scarborough, advertises two rooms in a three-bedroom unit that also includes a shared living room, dining room, kitchen, and one washroom.

Based on the listing’s photos, the bigger room is furnished with a bunk bed, while the smaller room has space to fit a twin bed and a desk. While WiFi is included, the landlord notes that tenants must share all utilities with two other residents, including 10 per cent on water, gas, and electricity.

Despite its “perks,” the listing notes that the rooms are suitable for one to three girls, and will be charged at a mind-boggling rate of $1,000 per month, meaning two tenants must split the cost ($500 each). If only one tenant rents out the room, the landlord requires a reduced (but still unfathomable) rent of $700.

The listing was posted at a time when rents continue to stay sky-high in Toronto, despite some month-to-month and year-over-year declines. According to rentals.ca’s June 2026 Rent Report, Toronto’s average rent for a one-bedroom apartment in June is $2,212, representing a year-over-year decline of 3.9 per cent.

Meanwhile, in Scarborough, the average rent for a one-bedroom apartment in June is $1,868, representing a month-to-month drop of 1.4 per cent.

This is hardly the first example of a Toronto bunk bed listing in recent years. In 2024, a landlord caught flak online for advertising a crammed room with a bunk bed for $555 per month and calling it a “prestige accommodation.”

In 2023, a listing advertised a shared bedroom with bunk beds for $750 per month, while another ad in 2022 listed one with two bunk beds in a windowless apartment for $1,200 per month.

With the average rent for a one-bedroom apartment in Toronto still hovering over the $2,200 mark this June,…

[7
19092,4152,19226,48
post-102777","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-toronto","tag-apartment","tag-for","tag-rent","tag-toronto
["GET
