My boys instantly started praying.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The dad was initially separated from the rest of his family on the plane \u2014 a twin-turboprop de Havilland Dash 8-400 \u2014 before rushing to help the stricken captain, who had been dragged out of the cockpit by a flight attendant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYeah, it was really horrifying,\u201d McDonald said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI went back to sit with them and then realized that the pilot was out of control physically, not violently, like it was clear that he was not in control of his faculties and needed to be restrained.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[We] worked to get him under control, it was a fairly strenuous 40 minutes of keeping him down and using as many seatbelts as we could to restrain his legs, arms and chest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.50146628;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"39789665\" width=\"886\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/passengers-restrain-pilot-apparent-medical-132175861_4b8841.jpg\" alt=\"Emergency services personnel assist a person on a stretcher on an airport tarmac, with an ambulance, fire truck, and pickup truck nearby.\" class=\"wp-image-39789665\"  \/>Ambulances swarmed the aircraft after it had landed.  WCVB Channel 5 Boston<\/p>\n<p>Cops and airport officials received an alert at 1:40 p.m. and the plane landed at Boston Logan just before 2 p.m., <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flightaware.com\/live\/flight\/ACA7664\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">according to FlightAware data.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cPilot is incapacitated.
