We have another trade to announce, this time involving the Montreal Canadiens and the Los Angeles Kings.<\/p>\n
Kent Hughes is on the move yet again!<\/p>\n
Up to this point, the Canadiens’ general manager had been making trades to move up in the draft order, but this time, it’s the opposite.<\/p>\n
Hughes has decided to move back!<\/p>\n
A trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the Los Angeles Kings during the second day of the NHL Draft<\/p>\n
Here is the official announcement of the trade, directly from the Canadiens’ official account:<\/p>\n
“The Canadiens have acquired the 113th and 190th picks in 2026 from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for Montreal’s 103rd-overall pick in 2026.”<\/p>\n

It should be noted that there were already strong indications a Canadiens trade was coming, as the No. 103 pick was never announced when it was on the clock.<\/p>\n
Kent Hughes has therefore recovered one of the two picks he had “given up” earlier to move up in the 2026 NHL Draft.<\/p>\n
It should be noted that with the pick acquired from the Montreal Canadiens, the Los Angeles Kings selected center Thomas Vandenberg.<\/p>\n
As for the two new picks acquired by the Canadiens, we’ll have to wait a little longer to see how they are used.<\/p>\n
A small move on paper, but another clear example of Kent Hughes continuing to manage his draft board aggressively, whether that means moving up for a targeted player or moving back to recover extra assets.<\/p>\n
