His presence in a squad now through to the next round still marks another step in a rapid rise.

Canada beat South Africa 1-0 in Los Angeles, with Stephen Eustáquio scoring in second-half stoppage time. The Guardian reported that Canada reached the last 16 for the first time in their history.

Reuters also reported that Canada will face either the Netherlands or Morocco next, with the tie scheduled for Houston on 4 July.

Goodman Part Of Historic Canada Breakthrough

For Goodman, this is exactly the sort of elite environment Palace will want him absorbing.

Pierre Sage will assess the goalkeeping pathway in pre-season. Goodman’s summer now carries more weight, even without tournament minutes.

His loan record already carries substance. Palace’s Canada profile noted that Goodman made 40 appearances at Colchester United and 54 for AFC Wimbledon.

He then rebuilt momentum after joining Barnsley during the second half of 2025/26.

ReadCrystalPalace has previously tracked Palace’s World Cup contingent. Canada’s progress now gives Goodman’s summer a sharper edge.

He may not be Marsch’s No.1 yet. A last-16 camp is still a serious education for a goalkeeper climbing Palace’s senior ladder.

For Palace, the value is clear.

Goodman is getting tournament exposure, pressure and international standards before Sage’s first squad audit begins.

Owen Goodman’s first senior tournament with Canada has taken on fresh weight after Jesse Marsch’s side reached the…

[2
38279,38280,2499,17,38281,27302,7424,38282
post-108559","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-canada","tag-crystalpalace","tag-2026-owen-goodman-canada","tag-2026-world-cup","tag-canada","tag-cpfc","tag-crystal-palace","tag-epl","tag-palace-news
["GET
