{"id":111259,"date":"2026-07-01T03:37:37","date_gmt":"2026-07-01T03:37:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/111259\/"},"modified":"2026-07-01T03:37:37","modified_gmt":"2026-07-01T03:37:37","slug":"eu-and-canada-conclude-the-energy-security-business-roundtable-to-deepen-transatlantic-business-relations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/111259\/","title":{"rendered":"EU and Canada conclude the Energy Security Business Roundtable to deepen transatlantic business relations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Montreal, 29 June &#8211; Today, the European Commission and Canada convened the EU-Canada Energy Security Business Roundtable on the sidelines of the 11th IEA Energy Efficiency Conference in Montreal, reaffirming their commitment to a stronger transatlantic energy partnership.<\/p>\n<p>Co-chaired by Dan J\u00f8rgensen, EU Commissioner for Energy and Housing, and Tim Hodgson, Canada\u2019s Minister for Energy and Natural Resources, the roundtable brought together EU Ministers, Canadian provincial governments as well as European and Canadian companies to drive forward cooperation on electrification, clean energy technologies and liquefied natural gas (LNG).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Roundtable participants discussed how to strengthen resilient and diversified clean energy supply chains, with particular attention to electricity grids, critical components, and the conditions needed to unlock private sector investment. They also examined Canada&#8217;s role in Europe&#8217;s energy security, including Canadian LNG. The event was followed by a dedicated business-to-business workshop on LNG, bringing together Canadian projects and potential EU off-takers.<\/p>\n<p>Building on the commitments made of last year\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.consilium.europa.eu\/en\/press\/press-releases\/2025\/06\/23\/eu-canada-summit-outcome-documents\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">EU-Canada Summit,<\/a>\u00a0participants identified opportunities to further strengthen transatlantic business cooperation on energy, leveraging the strong economic complementarities between the two regions. Against a challenging backdrop of rising global energy demand, supply chain disruptions, and geopolitical volatility, participants agreed that the EU-Canada partnership is more critical than ever. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The outcomes of today&#8217;s discussions will directly inform the ambitions and deliverables of the next EU-Canada Summit, scheduled for 29\u201330 October 2026 in Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Dan J\u00f8rgensen, European Commissioner for Energy and Housing, said<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cThe EU-Canada partnership is not just a friendship of values. It is also a strategic asset.
