Canada’s first location of a world-renowned, provocatively-named breakfast restaurant officially opens for business in just over a week.<\/p>\n
Though Toronto is home to plenty of restaurants serving\u00a0eggs worthy of some yearning, few can make a person downright blush. Los Angeles’ viral Eggslut is about to change that<\/a>.<\/p>\n Merely typing the name of the famed breakfast restaurant gives me a little thrill, and it’s not just because I’m not sure whether I’m allowed to say such words at work \u2014 it’s also because, after hearing endless praise about the chain’s egg-based creations for the better part of 15 years, Toronto will finally be able to see what all the hype is about in a matter of days.<\/p>\n Founded as an L.A. food truck in 2011, founder\u00a0Alvin Cailan has since created an international fanbase of so-called “eggsluts,” spanning from the U.S. as far as Australia and Japan. Its debut in Toronto will mark the chain’s first Canadian venture.<\/p>\n After months of anticipation (and coy advertisements around the city announcing “there’s a new egg\u00a0slut in town<\/a>“), we finally have an official opening date for the country’s first location of the chain.<\/p>\n Eggslut Toronto is opening on Thursday, April 30, just in time to brave your hangover and wait in line with scores of like-minded egg enthusiasts the following weekend.<\/p>\n From the restaurant, you can expect a surprisingly diverse suite of egg-based dishes. The eponymous Slut features a coddled egg with potato puree, poached and served in a glass jar with a slice of baguette for dipping, but dirtier options, like a cheeseburger with caramelized onions and an over-medium egg, are also on the roster.<\/p>\n Eggslut will be located at 545 King St. W.<\/p>\n
