{"id":119821,"date":"2026-07-07T14:12:10","date_gmt":"2026-07-07T14:12:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/119821\/"},"modified":"2026-07-07T14:12:10","modified_gmt":"2026-07-07T14:12:10","slug":"nine-countries-commit-to-global-defence-bank-says-canada-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/119821\/","title":{"rendered":"Nine countries commit\u00a0to global defence bank, says Canada"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"text text-block paragraph text-left neo-font-paragraph-xl-reg  yf-18d6y07\" style=\"text-decoration: none; font-style: normal; text-transform: none; text-align: inherit; font-variant-numeric: normal;\">LONDON, July 7 (Reuters) &#8211; A total of nine countries have committed to supporting a new global defence bank, Mark Carney, the prime minister \u200cof host country Canada, said on Tuesday.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"text text-block paragraph text-left neo-font-paragraph-xl-reg  yf-18d6y07\" style=\"text-decoration: none; font-style: normal; text-transform: none; text-align: inherit; font-variant-numeric: normal;\">Carney said in a statement \u200cat the NATO Summit in Turkey&#8217;s capital Ankara, that Albania, Belgium, Greece, Latvia, Luxembourg, Romania, Turkey, and \u200bUkraine had all pledged their support, and would define the initial policies and directives of the multilateral Defence, Security and Resilience Bank (DSRB) and shape its operations.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"text text-block paragraph text-left neo-font-paragraph-xl-reg  yf-18d6y07\" style=\"text-decoration: none; font-style: normal; text-transform: none; text-align: inherit; font-variant-numeric: normal;\">The bank&#8217;s purpose is to bolster the defence of allied nations by raising up to \u00a3100 billion ($134 \u200cbillion) in cheap finance.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"text text-block paragraph text-left neo-font-paragraph-xl-reg  yf-18d6y07\" style=\"text-decoration: none; font-style: normal; text-transform: none; text-align: inherit; font-variant-numeric: normal;\">Carney&#8217;s government \u2060has taken charge of promoting DSRB this year and had been aiming to unveil around 10 national backers at the NATO \u2060summit, the country&#8217;s lead negotiator told Reuters last week.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"text text-block paragraph text-left neo-font-paragraph-xl-reg  yf-18d6y07\" style=\"text-decoration: none; font-style: normal; text-transform: none; text-align: inherit; font-variant-numeric: normal;\">&#8220;Canada is leading to build the foundations of our collective security.
