Welcome to the 3rd finals session of the 2026 Canadian Swimming Trials.<\/p>\n
This morning\u2019s prelims session was relatively quiet with most athletes cruising to their top seeds. The top swim of the morning came from Sophie Angus<\/a> who dropped more than half-a-second in the 50 breaststroke prelims to swim 30.28, becoming the 2nd fastest Canadian in history in the event and scaring the 2009 Canadian Record of 30.23.<\/p>\n The biggest news after the prelims session was Summer McIntosh<\/a> scratching the rest of the meet due to illness. That means she will not race the women\u2019s 400 free final tonight, bumping Juliet Nicholson<\/a> into the event. Ella Cosgrove<\/a> will be the new top seed, just ahead of Ella Jansen<\/a> in 2nd. There was another \u2018A\u2019 final scratch in 5th qualifier Madison Kryger<\/a>.<\/p>\n Ethan Ekk<\/a> earned the top seed in the men\u2019s 400 free final, just ahead of Simon Fonseca<\/a> and Lorne Wigginton<\/a>, who is fresh off a Canadian record in the men\u2019s 400 IM. Francis Brennan<\/a>, who qualified 2nd overall, scratched the event final.<\/p>\n The women\u2019s 100 fly will see Taylor Ruck<\/a> as the top seed by almost a second over Leilani Flack, almost a new personal best time for Ruck, and under the AQUA \u2018A\u2019 standard.<\/p>\n Finlay Knox<\/a> will lead the men\u2019s 100 fly final by two tenths over Raben Dommann<\/a> as the only two swimmers under 53 seconds in the event.<\/p>\n The meet will wrap up with the 50 breaststroke finals.
