Several vehicles were stolen, while others were damaged during attempted thefts.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, Project Taillight was launched to identify those responsible and disrupt ongoing criminal activity. Through video surveillance analysis, Automated Licence Plate Recognition, body-worn camera footage, and community outreach, two suspects were identified.<\/p>\n<p>Search warrants were executed at residences in Mississauga and Erin, Ontario. Investigators seized several cellular phones, key fobs and key\u2011programming devices, vehicle-related documents, and approximately $1,465 in cash believed to be proceeds of crime.<\/p>\n<p>Previously announced as part of this investigation, Prince, a 21-year-old man from Mississauga, was\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/news-feed\/posts\/major-auto-theft-investigation-leads-to-44-charges-and-second-wanted-suspect-pr260191494\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=http:\/\/\/news-feed\/posts\/major-auto-theft-investigation-leads-to-44-charges-and-second-wanted-suspect-pr260191494\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1783903849111000&amp;usg=AOvVaw23aIHoKSnSreyocVGgENj9\">arrested and charged<\/a>\u00a0on June 26 with 22 criminal offences. He was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.<\/p>\n<p>On July 9, Gurjeet Singh Virk, a 23-year-old man from Erin, turned himself in to police after a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was charged with the following offences:<\/p>\n<p>Breach of release order<br \/>\nTheft of motor vehicle (seven counts)<br \/>\nPossession of break-and-enter instruments (five counts)<br \/>\nMischief over $5,000 (five counts)<br \/>\nTheft over $5,000<br \/>\nTheft under $5,000 (two counts)<br \/>\nFraud under $5,000<\/p>\n<p>Gurjeet Singh Virk was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation remains ongoing.
