{"id":129374,"date":"2026-07-14T17:57:47","date_gmt":"2026-07-14T17:57:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/129374\/"},"modified":"2026-07-14T17:57:47","modified_gmt":"2026-07-14T17:57:47","slug":"bonnie-crombie-running-for-mississauga-mayor-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/129374\/","title":{"rendered":"Bonnie Crombie running for Mississauga mayor again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">See more Toronto Sun on Google \u2014<a data-ylk=\"slk:save as a Preferred Source;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/preferences\/source?q=torontosun.com\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"> save as a Preferred Source<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Bonnie Crombie is aiming to become mayor of Mississauga again.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">She said in a message to a small group of supporters and Mississauga councillors on Sunday that she&#8217;ll register to run on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;Please join me as I officially register as a candidate,&#8221; Crombie wrote. &#8220;I&#8217;d love to have you there as we mark this exciting moment together.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Crombie, 65, served as Mississauga mayor for a decade, from 2014 to 2024, succeeding longtime mayor Hazel McCallion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">She resigned as mayor in 2024 after winning the Ontario Liberal Party leadership race the previous year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Crombie lost the election to Doug Ford in February 2025. She stepped down as Liberal leader following a weak leadership review from her party in September.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Crombie had replaced party leader Steven Del Duca in December 2023.
