(Supplied: Wayne Wastaken)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">The Canadian National Railway Company later confirmed the train&#8217;s crew had been successfully evacuated and was safe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;Rail operations near Armstrong have been temporarily suspended due to wildfire activity,&#8221; the company said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;CN employees in the area and residents of the Town of Armstrong were evacuated on the night of July 13.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">As of yesterday, the communities of Armstrong, Collins First Nation, Gakijiwanong Anishinaabe Nation, Gull Bay First Nation, Lac des Mille First Nation and Whitesand First Nation are under evacuation orders, according to Ontario Provincial Police \u2014 North West Region.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph___QITb\">&#8220;[North West Region Ontario Provincial Police] continues to monitor the ongoing wildfires in the region alongside the Ministry of Natural Resources and other partner agencies,&#8221; it said in a statement overnight.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Smoke and an orange colour from fire fills the sky.\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/878b370d21bb4f7c4807b2da856b585b.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">The fires have spread across a large area in the province&#8217;s west, with some areas at extreme risk of new fires starting.
