A Calgary 911 dispatcher has been charged with one count of breach of trust after the employee allegedly shared confidential information regarding emergency services calls, police said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Police opened an investigation in January following allegations an employee was accessing and sharing confidential information outside of authorized channels.<\/p>\n
“It is believed that between July 2023 and January 2024, the accused used her position as a Calgary 911 dispatcher to access and distribute confidential emergency communications information to an unauthorized individual,” police wrote in a news release.<\/p>\n
Calgary police told CBC News the “investigation is ongoing” and declined to disclose any details about who received\u00a0the confidential\u00a0information.<\/p>\n
A search warrant executed on March 31 allowed police to seize and examine electronic devices.<\/p>\n
The information included screenshots of Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) events, dispatcher communications, and sensitive personal information relating to members of the public involved in emergency incidents, including names, phone numbers, addresses and details of police and emergency services calls.<\/p>\n
The screenshots were confirmed to match authentic Calgary 911 and Calgary Police Service records, the release said.<\/p>\n
Jessica Lynn Nelson, 43, has been charged with one count of breach of trust by a public officer.<\/p>\n
Police said no other employees are believed to have known of or were involved in the incident.<\/p>\n
