Police are seeking tips from the public to help identify a driver and vehicle involved in a hit-and-run collision on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n
At roughly 12:30 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was riding his bicycle westbound on Desrochers Boulevard, SW, and was crossing a marked crosswalk on the north side of the intersection on Desrochers Drive SW when he was struck by a vehicle at a high rate of speed, said police in a Thursday news release.<\/p>\n
Police said the vehicle, travelling southbound on Desrochers Drive SW at a high rate of speed, failed to stop at the stop sign and struck the cyclist, and fled the scene.<\/p>\n
Police said the vehicle continued southbound and then turned west onto 41 Avenue SW. The teen was transported to hospital by emergency crews with non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n
Police describe the vehicle as a light silver four-door sedan, possibly an older Volkswagen with potential front-end damage.<\/p>\n
“The complete disregard shown by the driver of this vehicle after striking this child is appalling,” said EPS Staff Sgt. David Crisp.<\/p>\n
“I’m hoping that someone can contact police with information about this incident so we can hold the driver of this vehicle accountable.”<\/p>\n
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or has information about the vehicle or driver or has dashcam footage, to contact EPS at 780-423-4567.<\/p>\n
