As smoke rises, it can get caught in these winds and be transported long distances. Right now, the jet stream over Canada is in a trough, or U-shaped dip, helping pull smoke into the Northeast and Midwest.<\/p>\n

Bowling Green\u2019s AQI is currently 46, which is in the \u201cgood\u201d category. However, over the next few days, some parts of Kentucky could see worse conditions as smoke moves farther south.<\/p>\n
What can I do if the AQI becomes hazardous?<\/p>\n
If AQI is high, the best option is to stay indoors in a building with filtered air. Running your air conditioner in recirculate mode can help reduce smoke indoors.<\/p>\n
