Also in the sidebar is Wayne Wang\u2019s Diary of a Mad Old Man, starring Gabriel Byrne and Fan Bingbing; and Rebel Wilson\u2019s Girl Group comedy starring Jennifer Coolidge and Nicole Scherzinger.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThere\u2019s also first looks as part of the Gala program for John Madden\u2019s Onwards and Sideways, a BBC film where the Laura Linney and Rhys Ifans Star duo confront Parkinson\u2019s diagnoses; Sue Kim\u2019s Always Lalisa, where K-Pop superstar Lisa of Blackpink gets a documentary treatment; and Joss Crowley\u2019s Pretenders.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tOther Gala world bows in a lineup filled as much by international auteurs as Hollywood stars include Anton Corbijn\u2019s A Talent For Murder, starring Helen Mirren as author Patricia Highsmith, alongside Alden Ehrenreich and Olivia Cooke; Trudie Styler\u2019s romantic comedy Up Against It, starring Antonio Banderas and Eva Birthistle; Adrian Buitenhuis\u2019 Man in Motion: The Rick Hansen Story; Bad Lieutenant: Tokyo\u00a0from director Takashi Miike; Paul Andrew Williams\u2019 supernatural drama thriller Faith, starring Erin Doherty and James McAvoy; and Yan Lanouette\u2019s Villeneuve: The Rise of a Legend, a biopic about the latest race car legend Gilles Villeneuve, which will close TIFF\u2019s 2026 edition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe gala sidebar has an international premiere for Nguyen Phan Quang Binh\u2019s Spirit Guardians: The Last Secret of the First Emperor; and North American premieres for earlier Cannes world bows like Florian Zeller\u2019s Bunker, where Pen\u00e9lope Cruz and Javier Bardem play a married couple navigating rough terrain; Call My Agent! director Marc Fitoussi\u2019s All About Corrine, starring Isabelle Huppert, Emmanuelle Bercot and Diane Kruger; Reed Van Dyk\u2019s Iraq war drama Atonement. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe Special Presentation program has booked world bows for Niki Byrne\u2019s coming of age drama The Julia Set, starring Chase Infiniti, Christopher Briney, Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs; Jonathan Schey\u2019s Everybody Wants to F*** Me, the dark comedy thriller starring Taron Egerton; Hans Petter Moland\u2019s Growth of the Soil; Happily Ever After, by director Feng-I Fiona Roan; Jaap van Heusden and Vinnie Karetak\u2019s In Alaska; Michael R. Roskam\u2019s Le Faux Soir; Yeon Sang-ho\u2019s Paradise Lost; Richie Mehta\u2019s Phoolan; Mina Shum\u2019s Whatcha Want; Michael Dowse\u2019s The Stunt Driver; and Edmund Yeo\u2019s The Age of Goodbyes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThere\u2019s also an international premiere for Jesse Eisenberg\u2019s The Debut, which stars Julianne Moore and Paul Giamatti; and North American premieres for Cannes premiere titles like Ira Sach\u2019s The Man I Love, an 1980s-set drama starring Rami Malek; Pedro Almodovar\u2019s melodrama Bitter Christmas as the Spanish auteur returns to his cinema roots; Arthur Harari\u2019s The Unknown, starring L\u00e9a Seydoux and Niels Schneider; and Rodrigo Sorogoyen\u2019s The Beloved, which features Javier Bardem and Victoria Luengo as an estranged father and daughter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThere\u2019s also North American debuts for Lukas Dhont\u2019s Coward; Gael Garcia Bernal\u2019s Hombre al agua; Hirokazu Kore-eda\u2019s Look Back; Shinya Tsukamoto\u2019s Mr. Nelson, Did You Kill People?; Lee Chang-dong\u2019s Possible Love; and Canadian premieres for Everest: The Other Side, by Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi, the Oscar-winning team behind Free Solo, and exploring a historic ski descent; Mike Leigh\u2019s Tender Loving Care, toplined by Marion Bailey and Kate O\u2019Flynn; and Josephine, the Sundance award winner written and directed by Beth de Araujo and starring Mason Reeves, Channing Tatum and Gemma Chan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tToronto earlier announced Oscar-winning\u00a0CODA filmmaker Sian Heder\u2019s upcoming feature\u00a0Being Heumann\u00a0will open its 51st edition, and other world bows like\u00a0Prima Facie\u00a0from British director Susanna White and\u00a0The Assassin(s)\u00a0from Korean auteur Hur Jin-ho. TIFF also unveiled earlier berths for movies by Rachel Morrison, the Zellner Brothers, Ben Shirinian, Bassam Tariq and Benjam\u00edn Naishtat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe Toronto Film Festival will run from Sept. 10-20.
