Mark Carney announced the members of his new Canada\u2013United States trade advisory council Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister\u2019s unveiling of his new council comes ahead of a formal review of the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) this summer.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Carney\u2019s new council is the first shakeup since January of 2025, when former prime minister Justin Trudeau formed his original trade advisory council.<\/p>\n
The new group \u2014 which will advise on Canada\u2013U.S. economic relations \u2014 will be chaired by Dominic LeBlanc, who is the President of the King\u2019s Privy Council for Canada and Minister responsible for Canada-U.S. Trade, Intergovernmental Affairs, Internal Trade and One Canadian Economy.<\/p>\n
Carney spoke to reporters before a cabinet meeting, saying, \u201cIt\u2019s a diverse group. [There are] leaders in the union movement, experts in industry and CEOs in finance and across the economy.\u201d<\/p>\n
