Image courtesy gmp<\/p>\n<p>Quebec has approved plans to modernize the interior of Montreal\u2019s Olympic Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>Tourism Minister Am\u00e9lie Dionne said the upgrades will help the stadium host events year-round.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/montreal\/montreal-olympic-stadium-modernization-plans-9.7273941\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">According to CBC<\/a>, the project includes moving seats closer to the pitch, upgrading concession areas, and improving main service points. Crews will also move the lower seating section 28 metres closer on each side.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe goal is to bring fans closer to the action\u2014whether it\u2019s a game or a show\u2014while also reconfiguring the layout to improve the viewing angle from the stands,\u201d Olympic Park executive director Joelle Brodeur told CBC.<\/p>\n<p>Officials expect to complete the interior renovations and ongoing roof work by 2028.<\/p>\n<p>Dionne did not reveal the cost of the interior overhaul.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the time being, we are negotiating and not quoting any figures,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The roof project, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructioncanada.net\/1970s-montreal-olympic-stadium-roof-to-be-re-engineered\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">which began in 2024<\/a>, includes removing the existing structure. It will replace the concrete technical ring with a new steel structure and install a rigid roof. The new design will feature a translucent glass perimeter to bring natural daylight into the stadium while providing permanent weather protection.
