This is 100-200 twisters ahead of the typical pace we\u2019d see by this point in the summer.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S.\u2019s elevated count is connected to Canada\u2019s above-average total so far this season, as the jet stream has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theweathernetwork.com\/en\/news\/weather\/severe\/tornadoes-are-largely-avoiding-tornado-alley-so-far-in-2026\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">shunted the active storm track<\/a> farther north than usual.<\/p>\n<p>While Canada\u2019s tornado season simmers down in the autumn, severe weather is a year-round hazard across the U.S. Visitors to the Gulf Coast should be especially <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theweathernetwork.com\/en\/news\/weather\/severe\/tornado-warning-emergency-particularly-dangerous-situation-how-forecasters-warn-of-grave-danger\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">vigilant for dangerous thunderstorms<\/a> during the autumn and winter months.<\/p>\n<p>WATCH: In a tornado warning?
