{"id":143362,"date":"2026-07-25T06:04:25","date_gmt":"2026-07-25T06:04:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/143362\/"},"modified":"2026-07-25T06:04:25","modified_gmt":"2026-07-25T06:04:25","slug":"four-kingston-residents-among-63-people-charged-in-child-exploitation-sting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/143362\/","title":{"rendered":"Four Kingston residents among 63 people charged in child exploitation sting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/OPP-ViaOPPERComms-X.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-171434 lazyload\" loading=\"lazy\"\/>Photo via OPP East Region.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A joint initiative of provincial police and 25 other police services targeting child exploitation crimes has resulted in charges against 63 people and 52 victims being identified.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Wednesday, Jul. 22, 2026, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) announced details and results of \u201cProject Time: Striking Back Against Child Exploitation,\u201d a province-wide initiative involving dozens of different police departments and units across Ontario. The project occurred through the Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet, also referred to as the Provincial Internet Child Exploitation Strategy, the OPP said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project involved \u201ca coordinated effort to identify and apprehend those who prey on children,\u201d according to police, with investigators targeting those who make, possess, and\/or distribute child sex abuse material (formerly referred to as child pornography). According to the OPP, victims identified through the initiative were \u201csafeguarded,\u201d with \u201cappropriate support provided to those impacted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The OPP broke down the project and its results by the numbers as follows:<\/p>\n<p>51 victims identified63 individuals charged213 charges laid814 electronic devices seized264 criminal investigations conducted154 ongoing investigations<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of those charged through the project, two were in \u201cpositions of trust and authority in their communities,\u201d and eight were repeat offenders, police said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cProject Time is a testament to the dedication and commitment of law enforcement professionals across Ontario and Canada to protect children from exploitation,\u201d Detective Staff Sergeant Tara Clark, Lead of the Provincial Internet Child Exploitation Strategy, said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe results of this operation demonstrate the power of collaboration, the strength of the Provincial Internet Child Exploitation Strategy and the relentless pursuit of those who prey on the most vulnerable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Within the Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington (KFL&amp;A) region, four people were charged through Project Time, according to the release \u2013 all four of them from Kingston. Some of the accused individuals cannot be identified due to court-issued publication bans, the OPP stated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police shared the following details on the accused individuals locally:<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thomas Rogers, 35, of Kingston:<\/p>\n<p>Two counts of failure to comply with a prohibition order<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rogers was released from custody and scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, Jul. 21, 2026, police said. No information on the outcome of that court appearance was disclosed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">James Glenn, 79, of Kingston:<\/p>\n<p>Two counts of possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation materialTwo counts of accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation materialTwo counts of making available child sexual abuse and exploitation material<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Glenn was released from custody and scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, Jul. 21, 2026, according to the OPP, but the outcome of the court date was not disclosed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Minyang Fan, 24, of Kingston:<\/p>\n<p>Two counts of possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation materialAccessing child sexual abuse and exploitation materialMaking available child sexual abuse and exploitation materialFive counts of failure to comply with a release order<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police said Fan was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yuheng Dai, 26, of Kingston:<\/p>\n<p>Possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation materialThree counts of failure to comply with a release order<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dai was released from custody with a court date scheduled for Tuesday, Jul. 21, 2026, the OPP said, but no details of that court appearance were disclosed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Provincial Internet Child Exploitation Strategy is comprised of the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit, 25 municipal police services (including Kingston Police), the Ministry of the Attorney General, the Ministry of the Solicitor General, and Victim Services of Stormont, Dundas, Glengarry and Akwesasne through the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, the OPP detailed. This strategy provides \u201ca unique, provincially-coordinated effort recognizing regional needs and issues, as well as the challenges associated with geographically dispersed victims throughout Ontario,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the OPP, police involved in the Provincial Internet Child Exploitation Strategy have noticed \u201ca significant rise in reports of online child sexual exploitation and child sexual abuse material in recent years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The provincial police suggested residents learn more about keeping children safe on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.protectchildren.ca\/en\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Canadian Centre for Child Protection website<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Photo via OPP East Region.
