In terms of a direct retaliatory response, he said, “there’s a full range of things we can do in that regard,” but didn’t elaborate on potential punitive measures.

“We are going to support Canadian workers, families, businesses, full stop,” he said. The U.S. announced new levies on Monday, citing what it called “unequal treatment” of U.S. cars, dairy, and alcohol by Canada.

Everyday consumer items and industrial goods are on the target list. However, key exports will be spared, including energy, potash, critical minerals, and fish. Each country has about a month to negotiate before the levies take effect.

Carney said the deadline is “both” a pressure tactic from the Trump administration and an opportunity to move talks forward.

On Friday, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney slammed President Donald Trump over trade deals with the United States…

[98
17,162,111,6880
post-144454","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-mark-carney","tag-canada","tag-donald-trump","tag-mark-carney","tag-trade-tariffs
["GET
