The venue really made added to show\u2019s religious experience. The stage was set up below three tall stained-glass windows. Jesus was watching. As the last of the evening sun shone through the windows, fog slowly rose from the stage and the lights went out. The music on the speakers stopped and one by one, the band members emerged stepping into the haze looking effortlessly cool. Lead singer Courtney Carmichael would catch your eye from a mile away with her bright red hair lighting up the stage. Hayley Williams, is that you?<\/p>\n

The band opened with tracks like \u201cTune In,\u201d \u201cCamera Shy,\u201d and \u201cWoym?\u201d filling the church with an ethereal energy. The dreamy indie-pop rock sound gradually drew the audience toward the stage with every note. Some audience members made their way to the very front, soon moving restlessly to the beat. Carmichael then announced their song \u201cBannatyne,\u201d the first song they\u2019d ever released, building up more anticipation in the crowd.<\/p>\n

After, Carmichael paused the set briefly to wish their bassist, Gino, a happy birthday (through song, of course). She joked, asking for suggestions on where to celebrate afterward from audience members. It was their first time in Toronto.<\/p>\n

They quickly launched back into the set with \u201cCorydon Ave (To Meet You)\u201d making the audience sway energetically. To close the night, the band set the church on fire with \u201cBlue Wave,\u201d definitely leaving the audience wanting more. When Hozier told us to take him to church, this is probably what he was talking about.<\/p>\n
