Toronto rideshare driver Bekir Ozel created \u201cTripman\u201d to make passengers happy, turning everyday rides into interactive karaoke experiences with lights, microphones and music.<\/p>\n
Passengers can pick songs (via Spotify), wear neon glasses and sing along during the ride \u2014 transforming awkward silence into a high-energy, party-like atmosphere.<\/p>\n
The concept has already gained traction online, with viral dashcam videos and bookable experiences starting at $70 for a one-hour ride.<\/p>\n
Who says getting from point A to point B has to be boring? Step into a rolling karaoke and make the journey just as fun as the destination.<\/p>\n
Nine months ago, Bekir Ozel, a rideshare driver, was bored with the typical rides. So he decided to introduce the Tripman, transforming a regular car ride into a karaoke night.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cHere is so boring, I do this job \u2014 too boring. I want to change this story. I love touching everybody\u2019s life. If passenger\u2019s happy, I can be happy. I need some power, some energy,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
With the purchase of a microphone, party lights, neon glasses and a tablet, Ozel was ready to open up the Tripman karaoke.\u00a0<\/p>\n
To get a better feeling of how the experience works, Ozel took Now Toronto on a ride.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Last Tuesday, the Tripman car pulled up in front of my building \u2014 and it wasn\u2019t what I expected. The Tripman name was there, a slogan, \u201cSo far so normal,\u201d but there was even a bicycle on top of the car.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Step 1: Choose a song<\/p>\n
My friend and I entered the car, where the driver\/Tripman, Ozel, asked us if we liked music and allowed us to select a song from Spotify.\u00a0<\/p>\n
As Sabrina Carpenter fans, of course, we chose \u201cManchild.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Step 2: Party lights: On!<\/p>\n
Soon after, he turned the party lights on. Flashes of blue, green, red \u2014 all the colours started going off, making the experience even more fun!\u00a0<\/p>\n
Step 3: Wear neon party glasses<\/p>\n
But the experience wasn\u2019t complete yet. Ozel also gave us neon party glasses to lighten the mood and create a more colourful experience!<\/p>\n
Step 4: Receive a mic and sing your heart out\u00a0<\/p>\n
Finally, he passed us some microphones so we could sing our hearts out!\u00a0<\/p>\n
To be totally honest, it was a little funny because it had an echo in the mic, which was very unexpected, but made it so much funnier and a lighthearted experience.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He ended the experience by giving us a mystery gift, which revealed to be a very pretty necklace.\u00a0<\/p>\n
My friend and I can be quite awkward sometimes, but Tripman made sure to crack some jokes and make the experience as enjoyable as possible.\u00a0<\/p>\n
And who doesn\u2019t love singing to Sabrina Carpenter?<\/p>\n
For Tripman, it\u2019s not only about Sabrina Carpenter. His biggest idol? Albert Einstein. He joked he would\u2019ve loved to do a Tripman experience with him. Realistically (considering Einstein\u2019s dead), he wishes to have Jim Carrey in his car someday. \u201cI love his style,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But his favourite experience thus far is simply witnessing a rider\u2019s mood change. \u201cI have too much beautiful experience with passengers because sometimes some people really came to my car so sad. Then, after Tripman, energy changed, and they told me, \u2018This made my day.\u2019\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
After starting this experience nine months ago, Ozel shared the dashcam footage online \u2014 at the time, it was only in black and white \u2014 and it already garnered more than two million views.\u00a0<\/p>\n
From there, he bought a new, professional dashcam that can capture colour to start doing this for content.\u00a0<\/p>\n
For those who wish to live a Tripman experience without waiting for the luck that their Uber, Lyft or whichever rideshare app accidentally gives them a Tripman experience, you can book it online.\u00a0<\/p>\n
