NHL <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-media \">Prime Video is \u201ctaking over Wednesday night NHL broadcasts in Canada\u201d from Rogers Communications after the two companies signed a 12-year deal for national rights that will \u201csee the Amazon-owned streaming service broadcast games in both English and French for the first time.\u201d The agreement, which starts with the new season beginning at the end of September, includes \u201cat least 26 national regular-season games as well as two first-round and one second-round Stanley Cup playoff series each spring.\u201d Prime <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2024\/09\/30\/nhl-preview-storylines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2024\/09\/30\/nhl-preview-storylines\/\">took over Monday night broadcasts<\/a> from Rogers two years ago in what was then \u201cdescribed by NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2024\/10\/15\/nhl-gary-bettman-amazon-prime-games-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2024\/10\/15\/nhl-gary-bettman-amazon-prime-games-2024\/\">as an experiment in streaming-only viewing<\/a>.\u201d The new deal makes Prime the first national streaming-only service in Canada to carry NHL games in French. The company did not provide any details about its broadcast plans for those games.
