British singer<\/a> Myles Smith<\/a> has cancelled an upcoming concert in Vancouver<\/a>, Canada<\/a>, citing a “major family health issue.” <\/p>\n

The show, which was scheduled for August 4, was part of his ongoing tour<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Smith had recently released his debut album, My Mess, My Heart, My Life last month, and had embarked on a promotional tour. <\/p>\n

He shared a statement regarding the cancellation.<\/p>\n

Posting on Instagram<\/a>, he said: \u201cTo everyone who was planning on coming to the Vancouver show. You may have received a notification that the show has been cancelled. I wanted to explain why, because I never want to leave you in the dark.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere has been a major family health issue at home, and important appointments are taking place on that date. I simply can\u2019t not be there. Family has to come first, and this wasn\u2019t a decision I made lightly.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know many of you have spent your hard-earned money, made travel plans and set aside time to be there. The fact that you continue to show up for me means more than I can put into words, and I never want to take that for granted or lose the trust we\u2019ve built together.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cI also want to reassure everyone with tickets for the shows after Vancouver that this decision is specific to this date because of those appointments. As things stand, the rest of the shows are going ahead as planned, and I can\u2019t wait to see you. Thank you for your understanding, your patience, and for always supporting me. It truly means the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Smith then shared another post in which he said he wanted to \u201csay one more thing\u201d.<\/p>\n

He wrote: \u201cI will always try to be as open and transparent with you as I can. I respect you all too much not to be. I would never cancel a show unless I absolutely had to.<\/p>\n

The singer went on to say that over the past four years he has been \u201clucky enough\u201d to play more than 400 shows and had only ever cancelled four \u2013 which he said were \u201call for reasons completely out of my control\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t say that to make excuses, but to show you how seriously I take the commitment of showing up for you.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve already seen some of the frustration and disappointment, and I completely understand it. If you\u2019d booked time off, travelled, or spent money to be there, I\u2019d feel exactly the same. I\u2019m not asking for anybody to feel sorry for me! I just wanted to give you as much information as I could, because I believe that\u2019s what you deserve. Whilst trying to maintain the privacy of the circumstances back home.\u201d<\/p>\n

He concluded: \u201cI\u2019m truly sorry and I\u2019ll be back as soon as it\u2019s feasibly possible. Thank you for continuing to support me. It means more than you\u2019ll ever know.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Smith shared a post on Instagram in which he explained that he had gone home for a few days to \u201cbe with the people I love\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a lot going on in my personal life right now. I\u2019ll probably talk about it when the time feels right, but for now I\u2019m just trying to take things one day at a time,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore I left, the people closest to me told me something I won\u2019t forget: don\u2019t rob yourself of the dream you\u2019ve worked so hard for just because life is heavy back home.\u201d<\/p>\n

Smith then thanked his fans for \u201ccarrying him through\u201d a show the night before.<\/p>\n

He is next due to play in Sacramento, California, on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

The UK leg of his tour will kick off in Kingston on October 1, eventually wrapping up in London on November 20.<\/p>\n

Smith is best known for his 2024 singles Stargazing and Nice To Meet You.<\/p>\n
