a lengthy post on X,<\/a> Michael Kim recalled how the two golfers ended up in Canada after a Google Maps goof by Si Woo Kim led them over the border and set off a funny encounter with border agents. It wasn\u2019t clear if this was an incident that occurred recently or in the past, though both men are likely in Detroit for this week\u2019s Rocket Classic.\u00a0<\/p>\nThe debacle started when Michael Kim texted Si Woo Kim (no relation) about getting dinner at a \u201csolid\u201d Korean BBQ restaurant that Michael Kim always goes to in Detroit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHe searches the name of the restaurant on Google Maps, and without much thinking starts driving. But before it\u2019s too late, he realizes that he\u2019s about to go across the US border into Canada! There was a restaurant under the SAME NAME closer to him in Canada,\u201d Michael Kim recalled.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cHe doesn\u2019t have a passport, just his wallet. He tries to turn back, but it\u2019s already too late, it\u2019s a one way and there are multiple signs telling him he can\u2019t turn back.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe drives to the gate and talks to the officer. I\u2019m driving to dinner with a friend, I came here by accident. The officer goes, ok don\u2019t worry, happens all the time actually. But I can\u2019t let you go back so you have to go across to Canada and then talk to the officers on the other side.\u201d<\/p>\n
However, when the golf pair drove across the border into Canada to turn around, they got stuck in a 45-minute line.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And when they finally reached the officer to get back into the United States, Si Woo Kim tried to explain the situation only to find eight officers coming over.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s super nervous but tries to explain what happened. He points to his courtesy car and says I\u2019m here for the golf tournament,\u201d Michael Kim wrote. \u201cThis officer is not sure what to do so they drive the car to the side and calls another officer\u2026 then another\u2026 then another until 8!!! officers are surrounding his car and talking to him and each other. They check his cars for weapons, asks him if he has any drugs or weapons, stuff like that and they finally let him thru.\u201d<\/p>\n

The story did have a happy ending, with both golfers eventually getting to the Korean BBQ joint \u2014 90 minutes later than they had expecting to.\u00a0<\/p>\n
