{"id":147792,"date":"2026-07-29T07:13:07","date_gmt":"2026-07-29T07:13:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/147792\/"},"modified":"2026-07-29T07:13:07","modified_gmt":"2026-07-29T07:13:07","slug":"iron-bears-pfs-puts-12-94-billion-on-the-table","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/147792\/","title":{"rendered":"Iron Bear\u2019s PFS puts $12.94 billion on the table"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ironbearresources.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Iron Bear Resources<\/a> (ASX:IBR) has reported a maiden Prefeasibility Study (PFS) for its Iron Bear Project in Canada, delivering a post-tax net present value of US$9 billion ($12.94 billion) and an internal rate of return of 15.2%.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/mining.com.au\/what-mining-feasibility-studies-assess\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">PFS<\/a> outlines a maiden probable ore reserve of 3.3 billion tonnes (Bt) @ 29.1% iron (Fe), supporting 23 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of \u2018high-grade\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/mining.com.au\/the-worlds-10-largest-iron-ore-mines-2026-update\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">iron ore<\/a> production over a 44-year mine life.<\/p>\n<p>The project targets 4.5Mtpa of blast furnace concentrate and 18.4Mtpa of direct reduction pellets, with product grades of 69.1% Fe and 71% fe respectively. The mine plan draws on less than 25% of the total 13.6Bt resource.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first iteration of the Pre-Feasibility Study for the Iron Bear project conclusively demonstrates the project\u2019s financial attractiveness, scale, and sustainability,\u201d Managing Director Paul Berend says.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur project targets a high-value and high-growth subsection of the iron ore market, specifically direct reduction pellets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The operation features a low 0.44 stripping ratio supporting efficient open pit mining. This includes access to existing rail infrastructure and the open-access port of Pointe-Noire.<\/p>\n<p>Power supply comprises 100% renewable hydropower at US$0.0315\/kWh from Churchill Falls.<\/p>\n<p>Pre-production capital expenditure is estimated at US$4.2 billion. Iron Bear has secured funding through its development agreement with <a href=\"https:\/\/vale.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Vale<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The mining giant will contribute US$138 million to achieve decision to mine.
