Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual following a fail to remain collision investigation.<\/p>\n
On July 26, 2026, at approximately 11:30 p.m., officers responded to a single vehicle collision on the northbound Highway 410 off-ramp at Hurontario Street, in the Town of Caledon. The involved vehicle, a black Tesla SUV, collided with a guardrail and entered a ditch, before the driver was observed fleeing the scene on foot toward Treeview Crescent.<\/p>\n
Shortly after, officers arrived on scene, located the driver, and formed grounds that the driver\u2019s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.<\/p>\n
Following the investigation a 63-year old from Brampton was charged with:<\/p>\n
Fail to remain
\nOperation while impaired \u2013 alcohol
\nOperation while impaired \u2013 blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)<\/p>\n
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on September 3, 2026, to answer to their charges. The involved vehicle was also impounded for a period of seven days, and their driver\u2019s licence was suspended for a period of 90-days<\/p>\n
