RESULTS<\/a><\/p>\n

Toronto, Ontario, Canada –
\n\t\tIt was an upset; musical pandemonium reigned at Pan Alive
\n\t\t2026 for the Toronto Panorama, as the last competitor – PanMasters
\n\t\tSteel Orchestra – took the title away from the band that triumphed in
\n\t\t2025, Pan Fantasy
\n\t\tSteelband<\/a>. The latter was aiming for its twelfth consecutive title;
\n\t\tinstead PanMasters clinched the championship when they executed
\n\t\tarranger
\n\t\tRudo Forteau\u2019s<\/a> music reenvisioning
\n\t\tthe late legendary calypsonian Shadow\u2019s Feeling the Feeling. <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\"Arrangers
Arrangers Al Foster and Rudo Forteau share an embrace after results

But it was still one love as the arrangers
\n\t\tfor both bands, Forteau and Al Foster embraced mere minutes
\n\t\tafter. The steelpan community Diaspora is generally tight-knit so it was
\n\t\tnot surprising. <\/p>\n

It is the first Panorama championship for PanMasters led
\n\t\tby veteran panman Tommy Crichlow. The first-time collaboration between
\n\t\tNew Dimension Steel Orchestra and Tobagonian arranger
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

\t\t\t\t\t\tMicheal Toby<\/a>\u2014resident arranger for Redemption Sound
\n\t\tSetters\u2014resulted in third place.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\"Pan

Pan indeed came alive for another year at
\n\t\tthe Lamport Stadium where the seven steel orchestras of varying
\n\t\tskill sets and sizes took part in the annual steelband music competition. The
\n\t\tscale of the event is much smaller than in Trinidad and Tobago, the home of
\n\t\tPan; however the art form\u2019s aficionados are just as fervent. Starting
\n\t\taround 8:30 p.m. attendees were first treated to the talents of the Afropan Youth Steel Orchestra
\n\t\talong with other cultural performances, before
\n\t\tthe Forest Creek Pathway Steelpan Orchestra officially got the
\n\t\tcompetitive component underway.<\/p>\n

The music flowed through the evening per the
\n\t\torder of
\n\t\tappearance<\/a>, with penultimate band Pan Fantasy striking up at 11:30 p.m.
\n\t\tand final band and eventual winner PanMasters having their musical say
\n\t\tcirca midnight.<\/p>\n

\n\t\tThe period between the end of the competition and its results was another
\n\t\tmusical showcase when \u2018all dem Tobago gals\u2019 and guys featured
\n\t\tprominently in
\n\t\t
\n\t\tRedemption Sound Setters Steel Orchestra<\/a>. The steelpan musicians from
\n\t\tTrinidad\u2019s sister isle Tobago struck
\n\t\tup around 12:25 a.m., serving up a music set of almost thirty
\n\t\tminutes, delighting pan music lovers with their varied repertoire. For those who
\n\t\tcould not get enough of Redemption\u2019s music, there are a couple more
\n\t\topportunities to see the group in the coming days including Sunday\u2019s
\n\t\t
\n\t\tPan In D Park<\/a> and\u00a0 the
\n\t\t
\n\t\tBlue Food Blocko<\/a> on Monday August 3.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\"Redemption
Redemption Sound Setters \u2018take it away\u2019 for almost half hour before
\n\t\t\tresults were announced for the Toronto Panorama Pan Alive 2026 competition<\/p>\n

\n\t\tShortly before 1:00 a.m. results were ready, and when it became clear
\n\t\tthat PanMasters had won, there were hoots, cheers, shouts, high jumps
\n\t\tand hugs all around, tears and triumphant grins as band members, arranger Rudo
\n\t\tForteau, leader Tommy \u201cUncle Tommy\u201d Crichlow all took in the moment, and
\n\t\teven more.<\/p>\n

\n\t\tFor those who were not able to be at the Toronto Panorama in person, one
\n\t\toption to catch the event was via YouTube streamer and cultural activist
\n\t\tTisha \u201cI
\n\t\tam living My Life<\/a>.\u201d She facilitated a live stream which started
\n\t\thours before the competition. Tisha chatted with and informally
\n\t\tinterviewed players, pan tuners, steelpan enthusiasts et al, as bands
\n\t\tunpacked instruments and warmed up for competition. The interaction
\n\t\tcontinued throughout and until the end of the show. As much as possible,
\n\t\tTisha journeys to various countries to support and showcase carnival and
\n\t\tCaribbean cultural events year-round, wherever there is a contingent
\n\t\tCaribbean Diaspora.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
