GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – The Little League Softball World Series is underway at Stallings Stadium in Greenville, drawing teams and spectators from across the United States and around the world.<\/p>\n
Countries represented Monday included Italy, Japan, and Canada.<\/p>\n
Frances Troche traveled from Puerto Rico to watch her daughter compete in the Greenville tournament. Troche said watching her daughter take the field brings on a rush of emotions.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s very… it involves a lot of sentiments and feelings that we can\u2019t explain. It\u2019s joyful, we\u2019re nervous, it\u2019s everything at once,\u201d Troche said.<\/p>\n
Kimberly Deschenes and her family made the trip to Eastern Carolina from Canada. She said the North Carolina heat has been an adjustment.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s still kind of hard after three days, but I think after a week, maybe I\u2019ll get used to it. Right now though, yeah, it\u2019s very hot,\u201d Deschenes said.<\/p>\n
Troche said her family has been visiting Puerto Rican and Mexican restaurants in Greenville during their stay. She said the food has been a close match to what she knows back home.<\/p>\n
\u201cOh, no, it\u2019s very accurate. Very, very accurate,\u201d Troche said.<\/p>\n
Monday\u2019s gameplay was interrupted by rain delays at various points during the day. Despite the weather, crowds at Elm Street Park remained steady.<\/p>\n
Deschenes said the girls are making the most of their time in Eastern Carolina.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s amazing. My daughter has been making friends all around campus and with the girls. I find that really incredible to meet all these amazing people,\u201d Deschenes said.<\/p>\n
This is the sixth consecutive year Greenville has hosted the Little League Softball World Series. The tournament runs through Sunday.<\/p>\n
