We have an acquisition to report within the Montreal Canadiens organization.<\/p>\n

A new young goaltender is entering the picture!<\/p>\n

The Trois-Rivi\u00e8res Lions have signed Quebec-born goaltender Samuel St-Hilaire for the 2026-27 season, adding depth between the pipes.<\/p>\n

The Canadiens’ affiliate confirmed the news in the last few minutes.<\/p>\n

“The Trois-Rivi\u00e8res Lions have announced the arrival of Samuel St-Hilaire!<\/p>\n

After working his way through the QMJHL junior ranks and representing Canada on the international stage, the Quebec-born goaltender is now joining the Lions!”<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old from Saint-Elz\u00e9ar-de-Beauce will continue his professional career in Quebec.<\/p>\n

St-Hilaire arrives with one LNAH season under his belt. He spent the latest campaign with the National de Qu\u00e9bec, appearing in 18 games.<\/p>\n

He also has ECHL experience.<\/p>\n

The goaltender made his professional debut in that league, tending the crease for the Wichita Thunder on January 25, 2025.<\/p>\n

His junior career unfolded in the QMJHL.<\/p>\n

After two seasons with the Sherbrooke Phoenix, he completed his junior career with the Rimouski Oc\u00e9anic.<\/p>\n

His QMJHL numbers are impressive.<\/p>\n

In 81 regular season games, he posted a 48-24-7 record, a 2.67 goals-against average and a .900 save percentage.<\/p>\n

Years of steady development have led him to the Canadiens’ system<\/p>\n

One of his best seasons came in 2022-23 with the Phoenix.<\/p>\n

The Beauce native posted an 21-5-3 record, a 2.30 goals-against average and one shutout.<\/p>\n

Those performances didn’t go unnoticed.<\/p>\n

They earned him a nomination for the Patrick Roy Trophy, awarded to the QMJHL’s top goaltender.<\/p>\n

That same year, he also represented Canada at the World Junior Championship.<\/p>\n

It was an honour that reflected the potential evaluators saw in the young goaltender.<\/p>\n

His talent also caught the NHL’s attention.<\/p>\n

St-Hilaire took part in rookie camps with the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs, followed by the Los Angeles Kings the next year.<\/p>\n

Returning home fills him with pride.<\/p>\n

“Getting the chance to play professionally at home isn’t something everyone gets to experience,” he said.<\/p>\n

He joins a group that already includes Anthony Beauregard, Sean Gulka and Vincent Nardone.<\/p>\n

Another goaltender has now been added to the Montreal Canadiens’ organizational depth between the pipes.<\/p>\n
