{"id":155880,"date":"2026-08-04T23:00:16","date_gmt":"2026-08-04T23:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/155880\/"},"modified":"2026-08-04T23:00:16","modified_gmt":"2026-08-04T23:00:16","slug":"arkansas-dominates-first-half-beats-calgary-105-48","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/155880\/","title":{"rendered":"Arkansas Dominates First Half, Beats Calgary 105-48"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NASSAU, The Bahamas \u2013\u00a0Arkansas wrapped up its four-game schedule at the Baha Mar Summer League with a convincing 105-48 victory over the Calgary Dinos Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Calgary qualified for the 2026 U Sports Final 8 \u2014 the Canadian equivalent of the NCAA Tournament \u2014 and was national runner-up in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Arkansas was led by JJ Andrews, who scored 24 points \u2013 22 in the first half \u2013 with six rebounds and four steals. Caleb Ourigou posted a double-double with 10 points and 16 rebounds. Abdou Toure added 20 points, 10 in each half.<\/p>\n<p>Arkansas used a 20-3 run midway through the first half to take a commanding lead. In the second half, Arkansas opened with a 14-2 run while holding the Dinos to making just one of its first 13 shots of the period.<\/p>\n<p>The Razorbacks dished out 27 assists and had 16 steals, forcing 21 turnovers by the Dinos. Also, Arkansas dominated the glass, 54-33, thanks to 16 by Ourigou and seven by Maper Maker.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel Chijoke led Calgary with 22 points.<\/p>\n<p>Arkansas went 4-0 at the Baha Mar Summer League.<br \/>\u2013 def. Calgary University 105-48<\/p>\n<p>FIRST HALF: ARK: 66 \u2013 CAL: 29<\/p>\n<p>Arkansas\u2019 Caleb Ourigou controlled the opening tip to Jordan Smith Jr., who scored a layup four seconds into the game.<br \/>\nCalgary hit four early 3-pointers and led 11-9.<br \/>\nFrom that point, Arkansas went on an 8-0 run and never looked back.<br \/>\nMidway through the first half, Arkansas used a 20-3 run, including a 15-0 spurt, over four and a half minutes to lead 43-18 with 6:54 left in the half.<br \/>\nJJ Andrews and Jordan Smith Jr. combined to go 14-of-16 from the field, including 4-of-4 from 3-point range, to lead the Hogs.<br \/>\nAndrews made his first six shots of the game, including three 3-pointers, to score 16 points in his first 11 minutes played. He finished the half with 22 points on 9-of-10 shooting, including 3-of-3 from deep.<br \/>\nSmith scored 13 first-half points on 5-of-6 shooting.<br \/>\nAbdou Toure added 10 points and Davion Thompson had five assists. Arkansas finished with 17 assists with just three turnovers.<br \/>\nCooper Boweser and Caleb Ourigou each had five rebounds.<br \/>\nThanks to Andrews and Smith, Arkansas shot 75% from the field and 55.6% from deep.
