{"id":156602,"date":"2026-08-05T14:32:05","date_gmt":"2026-08-05T14:32:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/156602\/"},"modified":"2026-08-05T14:32:05","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T14:32:05","slug":"cf-montreal-to-celebrate-its-history-with-three-key-events-in-august","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/156602\/","title":{"rendered":"CF Montr\u00e9al to celebrate its history with three key events in August"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MONTREAL\u00a0\u2013 CF Montr\u00e9al will celebrate its history and the legacy of the Montreal Impact throughout the month of August with three unifying events highlighting the Club\u2019s roots, culminating in Lloyd Barker\u2019s induction to the Wall of Fame on Aug. 22.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis celebration is an opportunity to highlight that our history is ever-present and continues to inspire our Club, our fans and future generations,\u201d said CF Montr\u00e9al president and CEO Gabriel Gervais. \u201cThe Archive Collection jersey, the retro match and Lloyd Barker\u2019s induction will allow us to showcase the Club\u2019s rich history.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Archive Collection Jersey Launch<\/p>\n<p>The celebrations will kick off on Aug. 13 with the launch of the Archive Collection third jersey, created in partnership with adidas. Inspired by the original away uniform worn by the Impact in 1993, this new jersey pays homage to the Club\u2019s debut season, a significant chapter of Montreal&#8217;s professional soccer history.<\/p>\n<p>The complete collection accompanying the release of the new jersey will be available on Aug. 15 at Stade Saputo stores.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, Aug. 15, CF Montr\u00e9al will host a 1990s-themed retro match when D.C. United visits Stade Saputo. This will be the first game in which the players will wear the Archive Collection jersey, in an atmosphere inspired by the historic 1993 visual identity.<\/p>\n<p>Lloyd Barker inducted to Wall of Fame<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, Aug. 22, during the match against the LA Galaxy at Stade Saputo, the Club will induct Lloyd Barker to the Wall of Fame during a halftime ceremony. He will be the eighth player in the history of the\u00a0Bleu-blanc-noir\u00a0to receive this honour.<\/p>\n<p>Barker was part of the starting XI in the Impact\u2019s inaugural game. He is one of four of the Club\u2019s members to have won the 1994 and 2004 championships. He also helped his team win three consecutive regular-season titles in 1995, 1996 and 1997.<\/p>\n<p>He played 191 regular-season games (7th in Club history), scored 34 goals (4th in Club history), and recorded 31 assists (4th in Club history).<\/p>\n<p>Barker also played indoor soccer for Montreal in the National Professional Soccer League in the 1997-98 and 1999-2000 seasons, scoring 12 goals and adding seven assists.<\/p>\n<p>On an individual note, Barker received the Guiseppe-Saputo trophy as the Club\u2019s MVP and was named to the APSL All-Star first team in 1995. In 2006, Barker was officially named as one of the Club\u2019s Builders.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This will also be the second game played in the Archive Collection jersey.<\/p>\n<p>Aug. 13\u00a0\u2013 Launch of the Archive Collection jersey, in partnership with adidas.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Aug. 15\u00a0\u2013 Retro Match : CF Montr\u00e9al vs D.C.
