Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney<\/a> suffered a tech glitch during a speech on Wednesday \u2015 then turned it into a crack about President Donald Trump<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I would now like to inform you that the teleprompter has ceased to function,” he said. “Unlike a certain world leader, I do not view this as a conspiracy.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

The audience laughed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Last year, Trump became enraged at a trio of malfunctions before and during his United Nations speech<\/a>: a stalled escalator<\/a>, audio glitches, and \u2015 as Carney noted \u2015 a teleprompter failure.<\/p>\n

“Not one, not two, but three very sinister events!” Trump wrote on Truth Social<\/a>.\u00a0“This wasn’t a coincidence, this was triple sabotage at the UN. They ought to be ashamed of themselves.”\u00a0He also demanded an “immediate investigation.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

Canada had long been a strong U.S. ally, but Trump has single-handedly changed that<\/a>.\u00a0He has ignited a trade war, which includes a\u00a050% tariff on nearly all Canadian goods,<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0threatened even further action<\/a>because smoke from Canada’s\u00a0wildfires<\/a>\u00a0entered\u00a0the United States.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n

Trump has frequently launched verbal attacks against Canada and its leaders.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Canada’s nasty, they are, they’re nasty,” Trump said on Wednesday<\/a>. “I love the people, but they’re nasty. Nasty leadership.”<\/p>\n

He has also repeatedly called the prime minister the\u00a0“governor” of America’s\u00a0“51st state.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

Carney has pushed back,<\/a>\u00a0politely, and even\u00a0received a huge ovation<\/a>\u00a0in Davos for a speech urging “middle powers” to stand up to the United States.<\/p>\n
