{"id":158356,"date":"2026-08-06T18:11:06","date_gmt":"2026-08-06T18:11:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/158356\/"},"modified":"2026-08-06T18:11:06","modified_gmt":"2026-08-06T18:11:06","slug":"clc-urges-ottawa-to-repeal-not-codify-power-to-end-legal-strikes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/158356\/","title":{"rendered":"CLC urges Ottawa to repeal \u2013 not \u2018codify\u2019 \u2013 power to end legal strikes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The CLC argues Ottawa has used the power repeatedly to cut short legal strikes and lockouts at federally regulated employers, including railways, ports and airlines.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The government is asking the wrong question,&#8221; CLC President Bea Bruske said in the submission. &#8220;You don&#8217;t fix a problem by writing a manual for it. The federal government has repeatedly used section 107 to undermine free collective bargaining. The answer isn&#8217;t to codify that power.
