Six homes were most recently searched on July 16.

ALERT targeted a province-wide drug trafficking network that relied on vehicles outfitted with hidden compartments to move drugs and cash mainly between Edmonton and Calgary.

In total, ALERT seized just over 66 kilograms of cocaine, with an estimated street value of $6.65-million and seized $1,156,863 in cash, which is the largest cash seizure ever recorded in ALERT’s history.

Also seized were 1.5 kilograms of fentanyl, 3,494 suspected fentanyl pills, 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine, 2.3 kilograms of psilocybin mushrooms, eight vehicles and 17 firearms.

ALERT said the cash and vehicles were seized as offence-related property and the agency will be consulting with the province’s civil forfeiture office.

Among the 17 firearms, six handguns and 11 rifles were seized, and they will be submitted to the province’s firearms solutions lab for analysis and ballistics testing to determine if they were used in any other crimes.

ALERT said several suspects were arrested, but no charges have been laid as of yet. The investigation, which dates back to November 2025, is still ongoing as investigators prepare reports and disclosure for Crown Counsel.

– More to come

Bookmark our website and support our journalism: Don’t miss the news you need to know — add EdmontonJournal.com and EdmontonSun.com to your bookmarks and sign up for our newsletters here.

You can also support our journalism by becoming a digital subscriber.
