{"id":159378,"date":"2026-08-07T12:17:12","date_gmt":"2026-08-07T12:17:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/159378\/"},"modified":"2026-08-07T12:17:12","modified_gmt":"2026-08-07T12:17:12","slug":"air-canada-plans-to-launch-service-to-lagos-in-2027","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/159378\/","title":{"rendered":"Air Canada plans to launch service to Lagos in 2027"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\t\t\t\t                <a href=\"https:\/\/www.travelpress.com\/category\/airlines\" class=\"catlink\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Airlines<\/a><\/p>\n<p>By TravelPress Staff <\/p>\n<p class=\"timestamp updated\">August 7, 2026<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-206919\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/air-canada-flight-threat_1024x768_1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>In welcoming the expanded Air Transport Agreement between Canada and Nigeria, Air Canada said that it intends to launch scheduled service to Lagos in 2027, noting that it is starting the process to obtaining the necessary government approvals to operate commercial flights to Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>Mary-Jane Lorette, Vice President, Revenue Management, Partnerships, and International Affairs at Air Canada, said that: \u201cWe welcome this expanded Air Transport Agreement and look forward to obtaining the necessary government approvals to begin service to Lagos, Nigeria in the coming year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Canada\u2019s Transport Minister Steven MacKinnon said that: \u201cBy expanding our air transport agreements, we are creating new opportunities for Canadian airlines and giving travellers more choice. The newly expanded Canada-Nigeria Air Transport Agreement will strengthen our economic ties, support tourism and trade, and making it easier for people and businesses in both countries to connect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Maninder Sidhu, Minister of International Trade for the Government of Canada, observed that: \u201cThis expanded agreement creates a direct link between Canada and Nigeria. It means more choice for travellers, stronger ties between our people, and new opportunities for businesses to expand trade in both directions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Minister Sidhu continued:\u00a0\u201cI have met many Canadians of Nigerian descent who have long called for greater connectivity between Canada and Nigeria, and I know more flight options will be welcome news. Nigeria is one of Africa\u2019s largest economies.
