\n\tOne night after Chris Stapleton<\/a> joined Guns N\u2019 Roses onstage in Toronto, band members returned the favor as the country singer took the stage at the same venue Thursday.<\/p>\n \n\tStapleton \u2014 a one-time Guns N\u2019 Roses opening act<\/a> \u2014 first joined GNR at Rogers Stadium on Wednesday to perform \u201cKnockin\u2019 on Heaven\u2019s Door.\u201d<\/a> With Stapleton booked for the same Toronto venue on Thursday \u2014 and with GNR still in town \u2014 Slash and Duff McKagan made a surprise appearance to back Stapleton on the Lies classic \u201cPatience\u201d:<\/p>\n \n\tAfter \u201cPatience,\u201d Slash hung around to accompany Stapleton for a cover of Fleetwood Mac\u2019s \u201cOh Well\u201d<\/a>; Stapleton and Slash previously collaborated on the studio version of that song for the guitarist\u2019s 2024 solo album Orgy of the Damned.<\/p>\n \t\tTrending Stories<\/p>\n \n\tRoughly a decade ago, Stapleton served as Guns N\u2019 Roses\u2019\u00a0one-off opener<\/a>\u00a0at the band\u2019s concert at Nashville\u2019s Nissan Stadium concert in July 2016. \u201cWhen I was a kid, if you\u2019d have told me I\u2019d be up here playing before Guns N\u2019 Roses, I\u2019d have called you a liar,\u201d Stapleton told the crowd that night.<\/p>\n \n\tIn addition to winning over GNR fans, Stapleton was also \u201csummoned\u201d backstage to meet Rose himself, who he called \u201ca gentleman.\u201d \u201c[Rose] was great. Very polite and gracious, and we got to say hi for a few minutes,\u201d Stapleton\u00a0told\u00a0Rolling Stone<\/a>\u00a0in July 2016. \u201cI\u2019m sure he was tired and had to go get cleaned up before the buses or planes rolled out, but he was a gentleman, and we had a brief conversation about music and both went on our way.
