Human remains discovered near the hamlet of Calling Lake around 3:30 a.m. last Thursday have been identified as a 12-year-old Edmonton boy who death has since been ruled a homicide, RCMP said Sunday.<\/p>\n
Officers at the detachment in the Town of Athabasca, roughly 151 km north of Edmonton, responded to the call at 3:26 a.m. Aug. 6 before an autopsy on Friday determined 12-year-old Fiasal Hussein of Edmonton had been slain, RCMP said in a Sunday news release.<\/p>\n
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton deemed the manner of death homicide, said police, adding the\u00a0RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.<\/p>\n
Investigators are turning to the public to help solve the case.<\/p>\n
Anyone who may have been around Highway 813, near Calling Lake, a hamlet of a few hundred people about 211 km north of Edmonton, or near Range Road 213A (known as the ‘C-Road’), on Thursday, Aug. 6, between 12 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., can contact police to report anything suspicious or provide any dash cam video that might have been captured.<\/p>\n
