{"id":16816,"date":"2026-04-23T19:20:07","date_gmt":"2026-04-23T19:20:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/16816\/"},"modified":"2026-04-23T19:20:07","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T19:20:07","slug":"shaping-people-and-culture-at-the-national-film-board-of-canada","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/16816\/","title":{"rendered":"Shaping people and culture at the National Film Board of Canada"},"content":{"rendered":"<p paraeid=\"{624e894d-3cbf-4f44-be85-3eb3d8b36f3c}{175}\" paraid=\"1708123504\">\u201cShe was saying\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hcamag.com\/ca\/specialization\/diversity-inclusion\/dei-in-the-workplace-still-matters-says-expert\/545787\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">EDI is everywhere<\/a>\u00a0and it\u2019s\u00a0not HR, like\u00a0this person is going to help support the rest of the organization,\u201d Miller\u00a0says. \u201cFor her,\u00a0the focus was that everybody needs to own this\u00a0\u2014\u00a0it&#8217;s hard to do that shift for managers and even HR to make sure that we&#8217;re there to facilitate,\u00a0but the ownership is within each team.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p paraeid=\"{624e894d-3cbf-4f44-be85-3eb3d8b36f3c}{221}\" paraid=\"651640497\">With\u00a0about 350 employees across\u00a0offices from Vancouver to Halifax \u2014 including\u00a0micro\u2011offices\u00a0and\u00a0the\u00a0head office\u00a0in Montreal\u00a0\u2014 that shared ownership\u00a0has to\u00a0be grounded in local realities, according to Miller.\u00a0\u201cWe ask managers, in your sector, what is the most relevant action to take next year,\u201d\u00a0she\u00a0says. \u201cYou need overarching initiatives, but you also need to make sure those commitments show up in daily practices.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Aligning people,\u00a0creators\u00a0and audiences\u00a0<\/p>\n<p paraeid=\"{d17563d9-c2a8-45b7-ac13-8e0726908a13}{8}\" paraid=\"495337012\">One of the NFB\u2019s priorities, as\u00a0stated\u00a0in its strategic plan,\u00a0is to prepare the organization for a more youthful and diverse Canada, with particular attention to Indigenous and\u00a0under\u2011represented\u00a0voices.
