{"id":16832,"date":"2026-04-23T19:31:14","date_gmt":"2026-04-23T19:31:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/16832\/"},"modified":"2026-04-23T19:31:14","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T19:31:14","slug":"arashdeep-singh-of-brampton-charged-by-toronto-police-with-fraud-in-home-repairs-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/16832\/","title":{"rendered":"Arashdeep Singh of Brampton charged by Toronto Police with fraud in home repairs scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>            <a href=\"https:\/\/voiceonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Arashdeep-TPS.jpg\" data-caption=\"Arashdeep Singh&#010;Photo: Toronto Police\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"600\" class=\"lazyload entry-thumb td-modal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Arashdeep-TPS.jpg\"  data- alt=\"\" title=\"Arashdeep TPS\"\/><\/a>Arashdeep Singh<br \/>\nPhoto: Toronto Police<\/p>\n<p>THE Toronto Police Service announced that on Tuesday, April 21, Arashdeep Singh, 23, of Brampton, was arrested and charged in a fraud investigation.<\/p>\n<p>It is alleged that in July 2024, two elderly victims were at home when they were approached by multiple males who presented themselves as legitimate contractors and workers for the City of Toronto.<\/p>\n<p>The victims paid for \u201croof repairs\u201d, \u201cmandatory backyard clean-ups\u201d and \u201cemergency home repairs,\u201d but the repairs were never completed or required.<\/p>\n<p>Arashdeep Singh has been charged with:<\/p>\n<p>Three counts of Fraud Over $5,000<br \/>\nThree counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000<br \/>\nConspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence<br \/>\nTwo counts of Launder Proceeds of Canadian Crime<br \/>\nPossession of Proceeds of Crime Under $5,000<\/p>\n<p>The male used the following business names to commit the fraud:<\/p>\n<p>Xcellent Custom Homes Ltd.<br \/>\nFriendly Masonry Ltd.<br \/>\n17051450 Canada Inc.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators believe there are more victims.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>THE Toronto Police Service recommends the following to avoid being a victim of a scam like this:<\/p>\n<p>Be cautious of unsolicited contractors identifying urgent repair issues<br \/>\nAlways obtain multiple independent quotes before agreeing to work<br \/>\nVerify contractor credentials through independent sources<br \/>\nBe wary of escalating costs and pressure to act quickly<\/p>\n<p>Prevention:<\/p>\n<p>Be wary of unsolicited contractors going door to door, especially those using pressure tactics\u00a0and demanding payment in cash\/bank draft or demanding a large down payment<br \/>\nAvoid impulse decisions to hire a contractor.
