Nanaimo RCMP are investigating a fatal motor vehicle incident that claimed the life of a man early Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

Police responded at approximately 2:30 a.m. to a report of a male pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle near Cavan and Albert streets.<\/p>\n

The pedestrian died as a result of the incident.<\/p>\n

The driver of the vehicle has been arrested.<\/p>\n

Nanaimo RCMP say no further information is available at this time as the investigation continues.<\/p>\n

Residents and homeowners in Nanaimo\u2019s Victoria Road and Nob Hill area say they are increasingly concerned about safety in the neighbourhood following a fatal pedestrian collision early Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

The Nanaimo Area Public Safety Association says the collision is the latest in a series of incidents that have residents fearful about what is happening in the area.<\/p>\n

Association co-founder Kevan Shaw says residents have raised concerns about the number of people living or gathering on the streets in the area, including near an overdose prevention site on Dunsmuir Street.<\/p>\n
