Driven by high demand from Canadian <a href=\"https:\/\/www.majorcadailybulletin.com\/tag\/Cycling.html?utm_source=Inline-tag&amp;utm_medium=internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">cycling<\/a> enthusiasts, the airline upgraded to larger aircraft and adjusted seat capacity for the route and a large number flew over for the eclipse.<\/p>\n<p>However, on the whole demand is also being driven by a Canadian boycott of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.majorcadailybulletin.com\/tag\/United+States.html?utm_source=Inline-tag&amp;utm_medium=internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">United States<\/a> as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.majorcadailybulletin.com\/tag\/Holiday.html?utm_source=Inline-tag&amp;utm_medium=internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">holiday<\/a> destination. The BBC their decision is a response to US tariffs and the president Trump\u2019s comments about annexing their country.<\/p>\n<p>Even with a slight uptick in road trips to the US in April, Canadians made 800,000 fewer trips that month compared to the same time in 2024, before Trump was elected, according to national data.<\/p>\n<p>The boycott has meant a loss of about C$3.3bn ($2.35bn; \u00a31.75bn) in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.majorcadailybulletin.com\/tag\/Travel.html?utm_source=Inline-tag&amp;utm_medium=internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">travel<\/a> revenue for the US last year &#8211; money that Canadians have instead chosen to spend overseas or exploring their own country. And Air <a href=\"https:\/\/www.majorcadailybulletin.com\/tag\/Canada.html?utm_source=Inline-tag&amp;utm_medium=internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Canada<\/a>\u2019s revenue for September and October is likely to break records for the two months as more premium travelers avoid the heat and summer crowds in Europe and Japan, a senior executive said.<\/p>\n<p>Large North \u200cAmerican airlines have increasingly built their business \u200bin recent years \u200caround premium travellers, corporate accounts and loyalty program \u200cmembers, betting those customers are slower to pull back when fares rise.<\/p>\n<p>Increased demand for corporate \u200bflying in autumn combined with shifting travel patterns among premium leisure passengers are lifting executives\u2019 expectations \u200bfor seasons once considered slower than peak travel \u200cmonths like July and August.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe anticipate that September and October will probably be the strongest September and October from a revenue perspective that the company\u2019s ever had,\u201d Air Canada Chief Commercial Officer Mark Galardo said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve seen \u2060tremendous growth in demand for people travelling business class to go to Italy, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.majorcadailybulletin.com\/tag\/Spain.html?utm_source=Inline-tag&amp;utm_medium=internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Spain<\/a>, France, the \u200b<a href=\"https:\/\/www.majorcadailybulletin.com\/tag\/Mediterranean.html?utm_source=Inline-tag&amp;utm_medium=internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mediterranean<\/a> in \u200bgeneral, Japan,\u201d he added. \u201cAnd \u200ctypically, these customers avoid the summer peak.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>U.S. carriers like Delta Air Lines and United Airlines have also reported seeing shifting travel patterns drive more demand in autumn, particularly \u200cfor lucrative European destinations.<\/p>\n<p>Record heat, droughts and wildfires have affected large parts of Europe this summer, and the lack of widespread air-conditioning in some destinations has made them less attractive for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.majorcadailybulletin.com\/tag\/Tourists.html?utm_source=Inline-tag&amp;utm_medium=internal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">tourists<\/a>.
